Can I Re-Mold My Decibullz Custom Molded Earpieces if I Mess Up?Updated 15 days ago

Absolutely — one of the biggest advantages of Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs is that they are completely remoldable. Whether you made a mistake during the initial molding or just want to improve your fit, you can reshape your custom earpieces as many times as needed using hot water.

 How to Re-Mold Your Earplugs:

  1. Remove any attached ear tips and ensure the molds are clean.

  2. Boil water and pour it into a glass or ceramic cup (never plastic or styrofoam).

  3. Drop one mold into the hot water and let it soak for 5 minutes.

  4. Use a metal spoon to remove the mold (it will stick to plastic utensils).

  5. Let it cool for 30 seconds until warm and pliable (not hot).

  6. Insert into your ear and re-shape by pressing the mold into your concha (ear bowl).

  7. Let it sit in your ear for 5 full minutes to cure, pressing the back plug every 30 seconds.

Repeat the process for the second mold.

Why You Might Want to Re-Mold:

  • Your initial fit feels uncomfortable or loose

  • The tip doesn’t create a proper seal

  • You’ve changed tip sizes and want a better match

  • Your hearing protection doesn’t feel effective in loud environments

Pro Tips for Re-Molding Success:

  • Start with the smallest silicone tip for molding. You can switch to foam or another size afterward.

  • Be sure the mold is fully softened before inserting. If it feels firm in the middle, soak again.

  • Press gently but firmly into the ear bowl, avoiding fingernails to ensure a smooth finish.

Re-molding ensures you always have the most comfortable, most secure, and most effective ear protection possible — whether you’re using your Decibullz for shooting, concerts, work, or travel.
