Do Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs Block Out All Noise?Updated 15 days ago
Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs are engineered for exceptional noise reduction, but like all earplugs, they do not block 100% of sound. Instead, they reduce harmful noise to safer levels, making them ideal for hearing protection in a wide range of environments — from the shooting range to concerts, air travel, construction, and beyond.
What You’ll Hear (and Not Hear)
When properly molded and worn with the included Max Isolation Foam Tips, Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs offer an NRR of 31, meaning they reduce incoming sound by up to 31 decibels.
Loud, sharp noises like gunshots, power tools, and engines will be dramatically reduced.
Softer, ambient sounds — like conversations, music, or nearby traffic — may still be faintly heard, but at much lower volumes.
You’ll notice that your own voice may sound deeper or more muffled — a strong sign you’ve achieved a good seal.
Why Don’t They Block All Noise?
No passive earplug can completely block out all sound. Even with the best earplugs, some low-frequency vibrations or bone-conducted sounds may still be perceptible. The goal is to lower noise exposure to safe levels, not eliminate all hearing — which can actually be disorienting or unsafe in many environments.
What to Expect:
Sound Type | Will You Hear It? |
---|---|
Gunshots | ❌ Sharply reduced |
Conversations | 🔉 Muffled or barely audible |
Music at concerts | 🔉 Greatly reduced volume |
Power tools/machinery | ❌ Dramatically reduced |
Sirens/alarms | 🔊 Faintly audible |
Pro Tip: Perfect Your Fit
The effectiveness of your earplugs depends on how well they’re molded and inserted:
Use the foam tips for maximum sound blocking.
Test your fit by talking out loud — your voice should sound hollow or muffled.
Remold as needed to improve your seal.
