What level of noise protection do Decibullz Custom Molded Percussive Shooting Filters provide?Updated 16 days ago

Decibullz Custom Molded Percussive Shooting Filters offer two layers of hearing protection: passive Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) and impulse-specific IPIL (Impulse Peak Insertion Loss). These earplugs are engineered to provide powerful sound dampening during high-decibel events like gunfire while still allowing you to maintain situational awareness.

Noise Reduction Ratings (NRR):

  • Up to NRR 33 dB when used with Max Isolation Foam Tips

  • Approx. NRR 18–21 dB with silicone tips (depending on ear shape and seal quality)

  • Ratings are based on ANSI and EPA testing standards

Impulse Peak Insertion Loss (IPIL):

  • Third-party lab tested IPIL Certified. The filters use the IPIL testing standard and not NRR as the protection provided increase in response to impulsive sounds. This means the louder the impulse the higher the level of protection.

  • This means the filters are capable of instantly reducing the pressure from sudden loud noises like gunshots, without blocking ambient sound or communication

How it works:

The percussive filters are designed to allow voices and ambient noise to pass through. When a sudden high-decibel impulse is detected—such as a shotgun blast or rifle shot—the filter reacts instantly to stop harmful noise and protecting your hearing.

Ideal for:

  • Shooting sports like skeet, trap, and sporting clays

  • Hunting: pheasant, dove, duck, goose, turkey

  • Tactical firearms training and range use

  • Law enforcement and military drills

When properly molded and fitted, these are among the best earplugs for shooting and hunting, delivering advanced protection without sacrificing real-time awareness.
