Filter Remolding TipsUpdated 8 months ago
Just a few tips to be successful in the re-molding process.
- Use the smallest size of silicone tip for molding.
- Remove the filter in its housing from the mold before putting it in the water
- Use 2 coffee mugs and pour in boiling water from a kettle - then place each earplug (without the filter) in the mug of boiling water for a full 5 minutes. These should already have the silicone tips assembled.
- The molds need to be soft in order to get a good mold!
- Insert the filter in its housing back into the mold and then insert the earpiece into your ear, making sure the silicone tip enters the ear canal. Then spread the molding material around the concha of your ear, making sure the material fills the entire space.
- Any rough edges after molding can be smoothed out by just reheating the molds in hot water for a few minutes to make them soft enough to smooth, but not too soft to ruin your awesome new mold!
FOAM TIPS USAGE: For the most protection and isolation, switch to the foam tips afterward. With these, if you need more isolation, move to a larger size to find what works best for your situation. Also, for the foam, make sure to compress the foam before inserting the earplugs into your ears. This allows the foam to expand fully in the ear canal and prolongs the life of the foam tip.
